Hello IH!
I just finished the development of one side project called LinkSend.io
The tool creates simple URLs where you can engage and capture user emails before they see the final destination.
Think of it as a mix of URL shortener with lead gen input.
Now is where the hard part starts: the marketing and distribution. Any tips or hints?
Hey Jao, I can see that the development of your product is amazing, but I also noticed that you made some mistakes in marketing. However, I am not blaming you for it. You should know that failure is a part of the journey, and it is essential to learn from mistakes. Overall, you have done an excellent job.
I would like to share my opinion on this matter. Firstly, you should start by creating a newsletter for your idea before developing your application and try running a small Facebook ad with a budget of 10 dollars(lifetime budget) for seven days to validate your saas idea If you get more than 50 signups, it means that your idea is 80% worth it, and you can begin developing your software.
I also have a great idea to advertise your app. You can apply for the Microsoft Founders Startup Program, which offers a lot of benefits. With this program, you will get $500 ad credit at LinkedIn and more benefits, allowing you to advertise your app for free.
Lastly, I want to remind you that even if you fail a hundred times, you can still succeed on the 101st time. Therefore, please don't give up, as it is the key to success.
What a great reply. Loads and loads of insights there without negatively criticizing. Great to see!
Exactly!! I'm so amazed by all the positive feedback here, just to give one example how this support is crucial.
Mohamed just mentioned about the Founders Hub, I already applied and got accepted, now I'm trying to redeem $3,000 bubble credits, this means that this advice can help me run almost 18 months with ZERO platform cost, this is game changer.
That's why IH is one of the best communities for founders.
Thanks for the reply! I got some good signals that this could work, I will try this ads to see if I can get more signups!
Thanks for the support!
Really good advice!
What a great Advice, I just launched a product and made the same mistake(s) that you have mentioned. Not building a newsletter (being a developer I tend to start building first). thanks for mentioning Microsoft Founders program I will check it and hope they are still giving ad credit.
Thank for taking a time to write this reply!
Hey Joao,
I recently wrote a short article about it: Low Cost Marketing For Early Stage SaaS.
It's the second most recent article on my Substack page called 'Boring SaaS' (sorry can't paste links here).
Let me know what you think and if you have any feedback.
Cheers,
Nicolas
Hey João. This tool might come in handy for your marketing and distribution strategy: https://www.digitalfirst.ai/ai-strategy
It generates a marketing strategy based on information gathered from a URL. The insights are free, but if you want to use the platform to execute the strategy, there might be a fee. Still, I found the insights it provides quite helpful! Check it out when you get a chance!
wow ur product is amazing, keep goin
Thanks!! I love what we're doing at Digital First AI. The capability to craft a strategy and derive insights from a URL is simply mind-blowing! Also, we have a library of tactics with step-by-step instructions on how to execute them, like this one I recently created: https://app.digitalfirst.ai/public/tactic/3427 and some other cool features to manage and execute marketing campaigns
Cool! Thank you!! I will check it out!
I don't want to put off the work you have done but what can your service do that you can't already do with a form backend like fabform
Congrats on the launch! I think this is a very useful tool for gathering user contacts. Have you considered packaging the application into a lightweight Chrome Extension? The Chrome Web Store can be an additional distribution platform for LinkSend. You can request for the "Featured" badge, and that will boost the number of users who can see your app. I built a Chrome Extension app for rephrasing sentences called Phrasely, and have seen some organic user growth from the Web Store.
I can imagine the Chrome Extension functioning similar to an URL shortener: click the browser extension app button, and the new link is created and automatically copied. If I were to use LinkSend, I would prefer to use the Extension version since it would only take 1 click for me to get the created link.
Please keep us posted on LinkSend! Would love to learn more about your findings and learnings. Looks like a promising application!
Hey Kevin! Yeah, it's on my roadmap! Hopefully I will be publishing this soon!
Thanks a lot for the message! If you need any help with the tool, please let me know!
Cool landing page. How do you prevent submit of fake email addresses? I understand there is not double-opt-in, right?
I'm not preventing it for now; I'm thinking about connecting some validation APIs as the tool starts growing.
Good. Keep in mind that Double-opt-in in certain use case is really important for companies.
This is a game changer for a marketer, damn good.
I'd say it would help creators who either -
Create reports/templates for giveaways that they currently do on their own or through platforms like Gumroad.
A paywall for something premium, that is a use-case for any type of marketer that's running a leads gen campaign.
Love the idea, but I feel you need to rephrase it to a specific use-case, currently, the messaging is not quite there, but the product looks superb, and the landing page is too.
To reach out to such creators, you can go to Gumroad and see the current creators who are currently putting up their products on the marketplace for free, reach out to them to give it a try, go to facebook groups, and join the communities of notion, and contact the template publishers to use your product for free for initial launches.
Get users, solve more problems in the use-case, and then monetise.
If you need my help, follow me on twitter, and let's get connected, would love to help you grow.
I can see the product evolving.
Thanks a lot! Good advices! Let's connect for sure!
Looks really cool
Side question: How did you generate the Hero image on the website ?
Thanks a lot! Do you mean for the landing page or the final link page? I built everything on Bubble :)
Focus on targeted communities, also i would suggest you to highlight the problems that your prospective customer has and how your product provides solution for it. Start with a newsletter a detailed one.
Thanks for the relpy! I'm starting to reach out some marketing and inbound communities to invite people to test it, I'm quite confident this product can increase by far the volume of lead that you can generate.
You want to revolve your approach around showing the public that it's solving a real problem, and not just another shiny tool. Highlight the unmet needs. Write blog posts and make social media content highlighting those real-world scenarios where LinkSend.io would solve issues. Share it in forums where your target audience hangs out. Finally, hit up other businesses and see if you can build a partnership. This is just a start to growth.
Good advice Sean! I'm doing tests with my own audience on Linkedin, and with just 1 link, I start to see the email list growing; I should work more on the message on the landing page for sure!
Love it. Keep it up.
This really seems like a difficult product to market because I don't clearly understand what it does that a javascript redirect on form submission doesn't do?
definitely is not for someone who knows basic code; this product is targeting marketers with a no-code approach. In the end, you can turn any link into a lead-gen opportunity.
you did!
🙏
