How would you hire a video editor?

this product

Hey guys!

My name is YK, and I'm running a computer science education YouTube channel called CS Dojo: https://www.youtube.com/csdojo

My current revenue is about $6000 - 7000 USD / month, and I'm thinking of hiring a part-time video editor soon.

My idea is to hire someone and pay them $250 USD / week with the expectation that they'll work for at most 10 hours / week. I've been posting at least 1 video / week, so it sort of fits nicely with my schedule.

This video editor person would be the first person I'll have ever worked with on this business. Do you have any advice on how I should go about it? Currently, I'm thinking of posting a video about it on my channel to advertise this position-- maybe with a title like, "CS Dojo Is Hiring a Part-Time Video Editor!"

Not doing it anymore, but a few years ago I also did programming videos on YT. I wanted to get a video editor to help me out so I put out a job on Upwork and gave the job to a few different editors.

I then evaluated them and selected one that I liked to edit my future videos for me.

Nice! If you don't mind sharing, why did you choose Upwork over other similar platforms?

No particular reason. I was familiar with them and they had a lot of freelancers stating they do editing.

Look at other channels that are well edited and contact them to see if they'll put you in touch with their editor.

Okay, sounds like a good idea!

Sorry for offtopic, if it's not a secret how do you make your money? Ads on youtube? Thanks!

      It's not a secret :)

About half of my revenue comes from my YouTube ads, and the other half from my Udemy course.
