How would you improve this landing page?

πŸ‘‹Hi everyone,

I've been working on a new app that I'm pretty excited about, and just started building the pre-launch landing page for it: https://elevator.wtf/

Would love to hear your feedback - How would you improve this page? Does it explain the product well? What questions would you have after looking at what is currently there?

Would probably drop the "Going Up..." as it was a bit lost on me.

Clicked some CTAs and they gave me a spinner, not sure if that was intentional.

I'd drop the slant to "most software" in the line "Unlike most software products these days". Personally speaking, after being burned so many times by "free forever" offerings and "you bought v1, but v2 is going to be X to buy" I am skeptical that you won't try to charge people again in the future. No offense meant by that, but "forever" tends to be longer than people realize.

The page feels a bit long in the tooth for me, you're not saying much that you haven't said higher up on the page. I'd probably rework to be a single full screen page that says it all in a more concise way (vs. the multiple sections).

Also, there's no incentive to upgrade today, no early adopter rate or anything, why not raise the price, and make it presell for the 29$, or slash the price from 29$ to 9$ or something. Great opportunity to give some sort of benefit to the early adopters.

Usually I hate animations, but I liked this one, but I feel like the image will always be dated since it's not showing real-time numbers in terms of the crypto markets.

@joshtronic thanks for the great feedback - so many good points to pull out from that.

Would probably drop the "Going Up..."
haha yeah, that was a quick little play on the name Elevator that I threw in, I think you're right though that it's probably not worth keeping in.

Clicked some CTAs and they gave me a spinner...
Thanks for the feedback, I'm using Gumroad currently to handle the pre-sale functionality. It sounds like perhaps it's not working in some scenarios, and maybe it's showing the spinner indefinitely instead of opening the checkout flow? I'll be sure to double check that.

I'd drop the slant to "most software"...
Totally fair. I think the main thing I'm hoping to express there, and something I'm excited to try with this product, is that I want to offer it as a 1-time purchase with no recurring monthly/annual SaaS fees. For me, this comes from my own personal experience as a consumer, where I feel like I'm honestly getting a little burnt out on the SaaS pricing model. I know it's not as popular, but the idea of a software product with a 1-time cost, even it's slightly higher up front, feels more appealing to me from both the consumer and maker side, especially for a project like this. So I think the thing I'm hoping to get across really is not so much the infinity/forever aspect, as much as just 'pay once. it's yours. start using it. keep using it as long as you want. No need to pay again'. Perhaps I need to work on better wording for this though.

The page feels a bit long in the tooth for me
Haven't heard that expression before πŸ˜…, thanks for that. Definitely I think you're right, it's a bit repetitive and maybe a bit lacking currently. I have some ideas in the works for some additional features to demonstrate that I think will hopefully help to combat this problem, but definitely good to keep in mind!

Also, there's no incentive to upgrade today
Good point, I think in my mind $29 is the early-bird price and that will increase over time as more features get added, but to your point there is nothing to indicate that. Definitely will need to work on that - thanks!

Usually I hate animations, but I liked this one, but I feel like the image will always be dated since it's not showing real-time numbers
Thanks! I think your right, it would be very cool to have the current market prices in the demo at any given time. One of my further out goals is to try to have a fully functional demo version of the app that you can interact with embedded into the page in place of where the animated demo currently is, but that's going to take some time...

Again, thank you for the high quality feedback!

Side note... because this usually comes up... would I be willing to upgrade today? Probably not, but that's because it's a macOS app and I'm a Linux/GNOME guy ;)

Haha fair enough. If/When I have that version ready, you're welcome to be my first beta tester 😁

I'd add some social proof and an example screenshot of what im going to get.

Also, why is it pre-order? Will I still get the tool instantly? Give the user a bit more around the journey and if you offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee to remove any buyer tension questions, add that in.

I'd also add in hotjar and a live chat for the first few days to see what buyer tension questions people have.

    Good work!
Just a few thoughts about what I would start with:

    • Add a logo
    • Add a basic navigation (even if you don't have much content, there are a few navigation items people expect to see like pricing and features)
    • The animation is clear, but skip the beginning where you move your mouse to the top of the screen
    • Add some content, at least main features. The green block is huge without bringing much value like it is now.
    • I'm not familiar with Gumroad, but having to scroll to see the buy button is not a good practice

Don't hesitate to reach out in PM if you want to discuss this further.

Thank you for the feedback @Lem!

Very clear concept. You need a logo/branding. Also, the links in the footer aren't centered (the ul has 40px of padding on the left).

Hey @Primer, thanks for including the screenshot, makes it very clear exactly what you are referring to. Mobile is always a bit of a struggle for me to get right, I will definitely work on cleaning that up!

      Thanks for the feedback!
