How would you market this b2b service?

Hi, so I just stumbled upon indiehackers today and feel so seen.
Though I’ve been a marketer for a good amount of years it’s my first time marketing in b2b for a SaaS(software as a service) company. I saw a post similar to my question and saw many legitimate and constructive suggestions, so here goes mine-

Looking for solid advice or intuitive ideas on how to best market this service: https://wipshot.com

what is it
* sharing and proofing/reviewing images and videos
* specifically through markup, comment, instant message, voice note, archive, transfer (with a single link), compare side-by-side, and overlay for img and vids

    Hi there,
To start, I'd love to get a better sense of who you think your "best fit customer" is and why.

Also, I'm not super familiar with this category but I know there are other creative workspace platforms out there. Could you clarify for me how this fits in (and if I'm even in the right category?).

Finally, and this perhaps is related to the above, while your website looks very nice, I'm not immediately clear on what you do. So my first thought would be to clarify what it is you make possible and who it's for - within that above the fold space. What does it mean to "communicate creative work"? I'm not clear from this if you're a tool for publishing creative work or collaborating on it beforehand.

From there, you list a lot of features, some at least that I presume are available elsewhere. What I'd be interested in as a prospective user is, what does this tool do that's different or better than the tools I already use? You can list all the features further down the page, but use that space above the fold strategically. Don't make people work for that info- because ultimately they just won't.

Once I know a little more about your target and VP, I'm happy to try and offer some more tactical thoughts and ideas.

OK, lastly...sorry to bombard but what are your thoughts on Google Ads? I think they're not worth the money and less bang for the buck but we're keeping it on for SEO sake.

Strathacker828! You're my first correspondence on this site. Glad I joined indiehackers. Really appreciate your questions and genuine effort in helping me. wipshot is a content review management platform for brands and agencies of all sizes. The wipshot tool provides a single platform for image and video reviewing through the features of share, review, compare, annotate, comment, message, voice note, archive, and transfer. To answer your question directly, it is a feedback sharing/proofing/reviewing platform pior to publishing.

Thus, the best-fit customers are those that need to review image and video files, streamline their communication workflow; usually they’re in-house/outsourcing content managers, marketers, social media managers, content creators, and designers.

Other workspace platforms are frame.io/ftrack between the creator but there are none that actually service it best for Clients and their Creators. Most creators send clients a dropbox file then explain via email or dropbox comments on the streaming version that dissipates after 60 mins.

What's different is that it is client-user focused rather than a creator to creator sharing platform. Thus easier communication methods for a client. For an example, there's an instant messaging aspect to the platform aside from the real-time comments. The voice-note feature is created to capture the nuance and feel of the feedback that just can't be communicated accurately through text.
It's also much cheaper than the competitors. We will be launching the app in April.

I'm actually going to update the web verbiage to more accurately answer your questions. I'll be waiting for you feedback on this. Thank you so much, good samaritan!

Okay now I get it and I absolutely love it. But your website isn't communicating any of this so it makes me wonder where else you may need to re-visit your messaging. Are your based outside of the US or is English not the primary language of your copy person? Because some of this seems like it might be a translation issue. Terms like "Creative Contents" and "Communicate Creative Work" don't sound like native English terminology. So this may be less about you not having a clear VP and, more simply, just a matter of refining the copy (which is good news).

I wouldn't spend money on Google Ads until you pull together a messaging framework that not only guides your website copy, but also your ad / landing page copy, keywords and audience targeting. You do this not only for brand consistency/recall, but to optimize your SEM (and SEO) efforts. A vague and/or inconsistently deployed VP is often a bigger hindrance to search performance than the mechanics of the ads.

Sidenote: YouTube ads would be worth exploring using a version of that video on your homepage - but you still need to clarify some of the explanatory messaging and get your homepage copy updated beforehand.

There are some obvious benefits to the product that I now get. Think about what those mean for your customer - the creator who wants to reduce the anxiety that comes with the way they're currently trying to manage the approval / collaboration process. Who has customers/clients of their own that they want to make happy. What does their use of your product say about them to their clients? How might you bring that out in your VP?

Also, think about your pricing and what that suggests about your customer. 9 bucks a month makes me think that this is for freelancers vs. agencies. Who do you really want to be serving?

Let me know when you post any updates to website copy and I'm happy to take another gander...
