How you can replicate a YC Startup that raised $1.3M this year (NoCoding) πŸ”₯

This is how you can replicate a YC Startup that raised $1.3M this year (NoCoding) πŸ€‘

Before moving on, I would like to say that the aim of these threads is not "going and copy these businesses".

It doesn't work like that...

I want just to show business ideas and how you can create an MVP for your next project, without coding ...

Now we can continue πŸ‘‡

As always, if you like these types of articles, remember to follow me @marcogurnari for other long threads and similar posts here on IH πŸ’ͺ

Hope you can show your love here so I'll be happy to publish other posts with other similar Business Ideas πŸ˜‰

Business Idea

The company is Careerist: "Job applications automation and live online training for job seekers"

User file

πŸ”΄ Problem they are solving: Developers have to fill 100+ job applications to get a single offer

More info on their YC Page πŸ‘‡
User file

βœ… Solution: Automate all these boring tasks with a single application + it trains you to get your next job

Find your Own Business Idea

This is what you can do if you would like to create a similar Business ...

First Step: Pick a specific Niche πŸ‘ͺ

🌏 You can work with developers from other Areas (Europe, Latm, Africa or Asia)

This is for example the number of developers in Europe

User file

πŸ’Ό Or you can target other jobs, like Product Designers, Graphic Designers, Sales guys or others ...

Now you have your Niche, it's time to Build the Platform πŸ’ͺ

Ok, wait a minute, let's test the idea first ...

You can create a Waiting List to get your first "potential" customers

There are tons of tools to do that, but I use Brizy Cloud for my landing pages

Copywriting in this phase it's probably the most crucial skill to have. Are you not good enough?

You can use Copy.AI, the tool by Paul Yacoubian ✍️

User file

To manage all your next subscribers, you can use SendFox (one-time payment), made by the AppSumo's team

Get the First Customers

Now it's time to find the possible customers πŸ‘€

You already have the niche in mind, so ... :

βœ… What are the blogs they read?
βœ… What are the socials they use?
βœ… What are the Podcasts they listen?
βœ… What are their Newsletters?

πŸ€‘ Do you have a budget?

You could start with Facebook Ads or, if you target developers, you could sponsor specific subreddits, blogs, newsletters and influencers

πŸ˜” You don't have a budget?

βœ”οΈ Publish Guest Posts on that Blogs
βœ”οΈ Try Organic Growth on Socials (especially good if they are on Linkedin)
βœ”οΈ Launch side Projects on ProductHunt

Building the Product

Ok, now you got your first 100 subscribers on the Waiting List ... it's time to build the platform (really)

For the learning part, you can use Popular apps like Teachable, Podia or Kajabi (more expensive)

If your lessons and notes are on Notion, you can use Float or Nogging

For the core part, the applications automation, we can use a set of tools without writing a single line of code πŸ€–

1️⃣ First Step: Collect the information from the users (you can use a GoogleDoc, Typeform or Tally)

2️⃣ Fill the Application: If you already have a list of Businesses you're working with, just use Zapier to send all the info to them

3️⃣ Advanced: You don't have any Business? You could do the applications manually in the meantime (or delegate all these operations to people on Upwork)

Sounds stupid? Remember the quote by @paulg πŸ“Š

Now you have everything you could need for your MVP (without a single line of code)

βœ… Traffic Source
βœ… Landing Page
βœ… Back-End and Automations

It's time to gain traction and decide:
🦸 Continue like an IndieHacker
🏦 Go and Raise Capital

In any case, now you know how to start πŸ’ͺ
