How's my sales plan?

My business-in-the-works is a B2C information product to help people pass a federal test. There are already multiple other players in the industry, however, I think I can earn some market share for at least ramen profitability at ramen effort.

The sales model I'm considering is entirely peer-enabled and/or affiliate. Basically, selling to resellers. My best example is bar prep courses (US law for those abroad). The sellers are primarily students. Those sellers sell a $3,000 product for three years (all of law school) and if they do, they then get the product for "free". Quite the scam.

What I want to do is sell to these sellers (product also geared primarily to post-grads, not law students) with a commission split. My assumption is that by giving the buyers a local face, and empower the sellers to build their community (SaaS commission), I'll reduce inbound support Q's, and eliminate wasted marketing spend.

Anyone try a pure affiliate focused business model like this? Good/bad idea? Are there major risks I'm missing? Basically a tech-focused multi-level marketing play, except with an actual end benefit to purchaser.
