Huge landing page update. Would love your feedback!

Previous version here

NEW AND IMPROVED (hopefully) version here

We simplified the website and re-focused it on the new feature we have just launched: Pulse checks.

Would love your overall thoughts and suggestions, I've received a lot of great ideas from Indie Hackers in past posts. Thanks!

Definitely prefer the new and improved version

    How is this anonymous?

    1. 1

      Thanks!

You send the messages or pulse checks through the Slack bot and it strips out their Slack name and replaces it with an anonymous animal alias.

Here's an example of an anonymous pulse:

    Huge improvement all around!

So good to hear it, thanks!

    Hey Matt!

I personally do like the addition of the green color for different sections. It works much better than the previous gray.

I also find the information to be presented in a clearer way. All around, nice work!

I imagine you had to make many hard decisions during the process, so if there's any particular decision you would like to point out I'd be glad to know more about it.

By the way, I'm currently developing my newest product https://botmenot.com/ and among other things, we're polishing our homepage and looking for beta users! Check it out if you're interested!

Thank you! In general, our thought process was to 1. catch their attention with the image, 2. clearly explain the process of using the app

For bot me not, I have a few suggestions:

      • Smaller top navigation, remove the social header at the very top
      • Cut down on text as much as you can. Go back to every text section you have an re-write it a few times cutting down every unnecessary word and rewording for clarity
      • You need some social proof eventually "Join 100s of people excitedly waiting for BotmeNot", something like that
      • Your footer is very large and the logo is huge, I would try to simply and cut down

Thank you for the helpful feedback.

I'll definitely be considering your suggestions!

Didn't think anything was really wrong with the last one but the new one is way better, nice work!. Only feedback I have is that you should carry over the green to the other pages. Going from a super colourful home page to a stark white page is not as smooth.

    1. 1

ah, good point. I haven't carried the green coloring throughout

I don't like the cheesy artwork that I see on every second page on the internet. The Slack in the hero would be better without the people in it.

(I am sorry if the artwork was properly sourced and only looks this way.)

The pictures are great, but there are very poor quality for me (like the text is not clear). Not sure why?

I like the unique green background and the "Great ways to use Incognito for Slack". Those are great improvements.

    Good luck!

I agree I don't think cheesy artwork (I hoped ours wasn't) but I think there's some sort of background psychological thing about seeing "people" on the page interacting with the product. Seems more relatable and human, not so sterile.

oh man, the images are crystal clear on my screen but maybe it's a resolution thing. what device/resolution are you using?

thanks for your notes, all together!

I meant yours (the one on the redesign) looks like straight out of free vector graphics so so many people use today (it just feels so templaty because everybody has them). I just think they harm more than help. But it's just mine opinion.

I load it again, and the pictures are really not good. I am on desktop version with Firefox on Linux. I also think I know why that is. There are scaled down from the original size (which loads correctly if I open them). It's probably the browser fault rather than yours but looks really bad:(

oh weird, I tried it on Firefox and you're right. It turns out it was the CSS
          image-rendering: -moz-crisp-edges;

The crisp edges look good on Chrome but horrible on Firefox. I just removed it can you check again and let me know if the images look better?

          1. 1

            Yes, it's fixed!

I would use a slightly different color for the copy text vs the color of text in the images. Right now they're too visually similar, confusing the eye.

    1. 1

hmm, interesting comment, I sorta agree but then again what other text color would be as readable? I find green text, for instance, much harder to read

      1. 1

All you need to do is to create contrast between the copy and the image. You could you shades of dark grey, change font weights, etc. in either the images or the text.

    Hey, Matt!

I think the page looks great and you have a nice product.

The only thing that I find that is a bit off is the fact that the features are displayed in a Z shape. This made my eyes go left-right-left... and I lost focus :D

    1. 1

Interesting that you say that. Feels like that's a common pattern for a lot of landing pages. Is that structure generally discouraged?

      1. 2

I think if it went straight down instead of z shape it would probably be a little more readable but design-wise would look much worse, in my opinion
