Why?

That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.

To join in:

01 COMMENT on AT LEAST ONE fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in. Let's get in there with the encouragement/feedback! (Changing the order, because I know we can do better!)

02 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of August.

03 Share what you accomplished yesterday.

04 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.

Optional:

05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.

Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!

Published basic landing page for B2B SaaS Marketing Playbook (Any feedback is welcomed)

    Today
Publish Chapter 1 on Micro Marketing

    1. 2

The landing page looks good. Nice and simple. Only thing I noticed is your site doesn't have SSL. Maybe add "insights into these companies" or something. When I skimmed it and just saw "companies", I didn't get what that meant at first.

      1. 1

Thanks for this! I'll add SSL today.

Also brainstorming some ways to clarify that header.

@TaimoorAhmad on releasing his android tutorial
@jpusateri welcome back bro! How did yesterday emails work out for ya?

    SIDE NOTE
Helen will persevere with sales by selling & building in gratitude vs ego! Everything doesn't have to be packaged the way you imagine it to be. That includes work, clients and customers. Does it help you reach your goal without sacrificing your soul? Take up the challenge and do something about it! -note to self

    1. 2

that's a long ass list of stuff...but looks like you're tackling the hell of it!

      1. 1

I know right... that list is taller than me at this point. It's giving me a Napolean complex ;-)

    2. 2

Thanks, they were ok. These are being sent to a semi warm email list, so they were pretty straightforward actually. No response yet, but I have had a few signups so I'm optimistic.

      1. 1

@jpusateri Today's my day off, you want to jump on zoom and figure something out on getting responses? I've been in that boat plenty of times. I can email you my link, just let me know.

        1. 1

Missed this, next time though for sure. Figure it's always useful to talk to fellow IH folks.

For now I'm satisfied with slow, it gives me time to build up some long game content and build the service out, since it is definitely at an MVP stage. The fact that I have any sign ups is something I'm taking as a good indicator.

I myself am actually customer number one on this one, as my intent is that it can save me hundreds of dev hours too.

    3. 1

Great to see you plugging away!

I checked out your site and have a few small bits of feedback. Would you like to hear them?

    Danger World Multiplayer Experience - https://danger.world - https://danger.world/blog/multiplayer

We already shipped multiplayer, but there is still plenty to do. Expect a new app update very soon!

    YESTERDAY

    • The Overgrown Laboratory was originally a level named Party With Marty, a Father's Day-themed boss fight starring my own father. The new floor plan is in place! I still need to place some guards about, but yesterday I was walking around the level. There will be some fun new monsters in this place.
    • Finished redesigning the home page

    TODAY

    • Notifications! You need to know when it's your turn.
    • I'll toss some sneak peek screenshots on Facebook. Apparently, I should also make a separate Page for Danger World proper versus Taormina Innovations.
    • Getting ready to ship.

We're up to 258 user accounts! Still seeing a little growth even after the advertisements. I'll resume my ad campaign when v2.1.0 is ready to go.

    Reach MVP

    BREAKDOWN

Week 1: Tools week - I've got several additional tools in mind, I'm going to try to get at least two of them completed by the 8th. I'm also going to be fixing a couple of issues I've noticed with the current tools. I'll also add client side input validation, I'm only doing server side validation right now.

Week 2: Writing Week: Troubleshooting flow-chart and/or checklist, a couple of articles for the notes section

Week 3: Do some basic SEO, keywords, sitemaps, etc. More tools work or writing as time allows.

Week 4: Finalize the look and feel of the website, any design changes should be minor at this point. Explore some of the paid ideas I've been kicking around.

    LAST WEEK

    • Had a baby
    • Added a Discourse forum with embedded discussions at the bottom of each article in the NTN Notes section
    • Did a bit of research for my article on LISP (the protocol) in the Datacenter with a focus on how Software Defined Networking solutions are leveraging LISP

    TONIGHT

    • Work on the LISP article as time allows. I might also start putting together a companion lab and screencast.

By end of August, I'll have proven whether my online course was a one hit wonder or is a source of recurring revenue.

    • Week 3: Complete website. Set up webinar. Launch FB ads.
    • Week 4: Launch webinar. Set up premium courses. Respond to queries.

    YESTERDAY

Launched FB ads. Thus far, the results are considerably less than impressive. Although one ad has performed about 67% better than then other.

    TODAY

    • A/B/C/D testing with FB ads, leveraging what works.
    • Rewrite two emails in the sequence to accommodate Plan B.
    • Draft ConvertKit Broadcast for wait list.

    KUDOS

    @aimoorAhmad For releasing a tutorial!

    1. 1

      How was the launch???

  7. 1

Forgive me for disrupting, so is this page entirely managed by @Janice, and the rest are allowed to comment only? Glad to find a daily hustle stand-up group. Can't wait to check in everyday.

  8. 1

Late to the party, woot! Hey folks! 😎

    EPIC
Launch repobox.io to early access customers with full NPM and Composer support

    Yesterday
Worked quite a bit on the maven integration, ripped apart XML files and got to the meat and potatoes of the integration.

    Today

    • Working on blog post content and more marketing strategy for Repobox.
    • Working a bit more on maven integration (if time permits)
  9. 1

    EPIC
Launch and reach out to 200 people (40/200)

    DONE

    • Reached out to a few people. Response is about what I expected. Which is to say, not strong but also not the worst.

    TODO:

    • fix a bug on one screen (not particularly important but it bugs me)
    • write the first Documentation entry
    • link up the AA blog and AA documentation sites to the main site
    • update to the 'create api' screen to make requirements a bit more obvious
    • update to existing api screen to make available calls more obvious
    • there is an issue with the proxy that I'd like to get resolved as well.
    • client work

Looks like a long list, but most are actually smallish and mostly just typing, which I can do from a waiting room this afternoon (GF's g'ma landed at my place to convalesce for a while).

    KUDOS
@Janice good on you with those FB ads, I had limited success with them on a past project, but that was mostly an experiment at the time. I look forward to updates.
    @DavidGetchel I dig the concept

edit: because I derped on a screen reload...
@dru_riley been considering a book play myself recently

    AutomatedApi.com

    1. 1

      Nice job!

Were you mostly getting your early access customers from one on one conversations? Or was it more outbound like posts to affinity groups (like developer subreddits/fb groups) or something else?

      -- Jimmy

      1. 1

Just the product hunt ship page actually, that's literally all I've had out there to date, aside from a couple of streaming days. The signups are coming straight off of that list.

I'm working on some more SEO type things now, demos and blog posts and other documentation intended to be evergreen. I'll be into Social Ads I think next month and may try some podcast sponsorship at some point as well.

  10. 1
    • Epic - Publish Novella | Going to start reading it again to see what needs to be done. It was 95% done when I worked on it last year if I recall.

    • Got sound of my web app to play nice with safari...I think. Haven't checked on an iphone yet. Also got Nosleep.js to work and keep the screen from turning off while someone is doing a HIIT workout.

    • Get a quick logo whipped up for Random Hiit, fix the refresh of page once workout is complete (think I fixed it already)
