I am excited to announce the official beta launch of LongLiveSS

This web app capture website screenshots automatically and save you a lot of grunt work.

Daily, weekly, monthly, hourly, or any other frequency you wish {at the moment only 15+min is allowed)

I used React for the front-end and Node.js for the server.

🚀 Check it out at https://longlivess.xyz/

Thanks to bugyard and mailchimp for the easy integrations, and Semantic UI for the awesome framework.

Feel free to ask me anything and everything

Terrible name; literally as offensive as is possible.

  2. 2

Lots of people commenting on the name, so you should probably address that. But I also wanted to leave feedback on the actual product.

I made a video of me using the website and giving my thoughts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dawe02SyaQE).

    To summarize the video:

    • It's unclear what the use case of this product is. Why would I want to screenshot a website on a repeating interval? Would be nice if you give some example use cases on the landing page.

    • There's lots of bugs. It just didn't seem to be working at all when I tried it. I would spend some more time making sure everything's actually working before doing a beta launch.

Awesome video breakdown. @usfslk did you end up addressing any of the pointers from this video? Seems like a super helpful product review.

Yes I released the v2, it's still early stage but the software is more robust now and there's fewer bugs, I mean you can't expect a perfect product built in 7 hours, I also changed that brand name but it seems I got more exposure using LongLiveSS https://urusparadox.com

Thanks for the video. Use cases are spying on your competitors / search engine ranking / data tracking over time / content verification (like sponsored stuff and ads) / archive.

There's many bugs, I agree, the main one is the server sometimes take a screenshot before executing the JavaScript, I'll spend more time making sure the app is complete. The beta launch is just to see if there's enough people interested in the solution

Oh my, that's an unfortunate name! "Long Live SS"???!

My thoughts exactly the moment I saw the domain name and even capitalizes like that.

Ok I got it. This app have nothing to do with the SS organization tho

  4. 1

It didn't come to me that "ss" could mean German SS ( I saw only "screenshots") but I totally agree if even one person sees "German SS" it's better to find another name.

  5. 1

Totally agree with the other comments, you couldn't have picked a worse name.

What you think is a better brand name? I find longlivescreenshots too long

    SS as in screen sharing?
