I am launching 18 startups in 18 months
Hi, I am Gabriel and I am really glad I found this community!
I originally started to launch a product on my own 3 years ago and literally stopped my studies to pursue that for one year.
It didn’t work out but I learned a lot.
I was not aware that a community of people doing the same thing exists.
I spent the last two months consuming as much indiepreneurs resources as much as I could.
The amount of value you put out there is incredible.
So, I am starting my own version of this challenge, adding 6 startups to the original.
I am currently a web developer and I know little bit of marketing and that’s pretty much it.
I will document my journey on my blog, youtube and ig/tiktok at a rhythm of 1 post/video per week.

I am starting the first one with a rental platform for freelancers only.

What is your method to accomplish this?
What kind of SaaS are you aiming to develop?
As a honest input, I believe it'd be best to focus on one or two in 18 months then pump out 18, quality over quantity.
I am still figuring out the method to build and launch startups as quickly as I can and I will refine it by trial and error as I progress in this adventure.
Current method is : build a MVP, market it on different platforms + build in public, adjust the product based on feedbacks.
First startup will be a rental platform for freelancers. I am not aiming to develop any particular type of SaaS.
You are right, a safer way to do it would be to take my time but I feel like this way of quickly launching products fits me better.
I can always readjust my strategy if it is proven to be non-functional.

While this makes for cool and shareable headlines, do you really think you can make 18 high quality startups in 18 months?
I have launched many startups in my life, and I would rather think about the quality than the quantity. Even the most simple startup I ever developed took me more than one month to polish to be good enough to call MVP.
That is the initial timeframe that I have fixed. It very ambitious, I agree.
I think that building a MVP with essential functionalities can be made in less than 1 month with the right tools and also be enough to validate an idea.
If a product happens to have potential I will spend more time on it.
I am not opposed to the idea of extending that timeframe later.

Which would be the breakthrough where you say OK, i'll stop and focus on the current idea?
Since it's my first startup, I am not sure about the metric that I will use.
Still figuring that out.

this is amazing!!
I wanted to do something similar before building 1 per 1-2 month while doing 9-5. But after 3 products, I realized there's simply not enough time for validation.
I guess it makes more sense to do this when you already have a group of audiences actively offering feedback.
How were you launching your products ? How did you decide when a product is validated or not ?
I am thinking about keeping the products alive for several months after launch day to see if there is any traction.
And yes that's one of the pros of building in public : quick feedbacks.

Interesting, I'm doing something similar but for 12 months.
I think it can be valuable to identify what metrics will signal that there is some market fit with your MVP vs considering it a failure.
In any case, let me know if you need advice on the sales side.

I was thinking about evaluating based on the % of conversions on a X months timeframe.

Me myself is focusing on a good quality SaaS now for the last month, and i probably need 1-2 months until i can launch it as MVP.
