I am offering to run an ad for your product for free.

Hello Indie Devs

So here's what has triggered this -

I make an app called "Chips of Fury" and I monetize using in-app purchases. I had been trying to avoid putting ads to support revenue, but as of now my revenue from in-app purchases is little, and I decided to experiment what ads could do 🤷‍♂. So I integrated AdMob and pushed a new app version on both iOS and Android on Jan 19.

As soon as I launched, I saw a notification in AdMob saying that "Ad serving has been limited" for reason "account being assessed". 🤦‍♂

Apparently someone at Google will manually review the app before ads can be served at full capacity. For me, this has meant that after serving 25K impressions in 48 hours, Admob has stopped serving any more impressions. From what I've read, it may take weeks for Google to review and allow my app. I've tried reaching out to support but to no avail (there is no support really, just some public forums).

As of now, instead of an ad, my app is showing a blank black colored bar the bottom. That space is going to waste anyway.

This got me thinking - why not serve house ads if AdMob is not serving me any inventory 🤔🤔.

You can get a banner ad directing to your app or website. The audience is kind of global. Would be best if your product is serving a global geography. I am committing about 7 days to this experiment. So hopefully some of you can get a few customers / users in this time span! 🍻

Some information to help you decide :

• I expect a total of about 15,000 impressions in a day. So if I run banners for 5 products, you can expect about 3000 impressions each.

• The ad size is smart banner. So I'll need image banners of following resolution

  • 320x50
  • 640x100 (for higher DPI devices)
  • 468x60
  • 728x90 (for higher DPI and tablets)

  Image size must be lesser than 150kb and .jpg, .gif and .png are supported

• My audience is primarily male, 18-24 age group

• Some Data I got from the 25K impressions that got served before AdMob stopped

  By OS:

  • iOS, 10K impressions > 110 clicks
  • Android, 15K impressions > 100 clicks

  By Country (in order of number of impressions):

  • US - 7K
  • India - 5.5K
  • Singapore - 1.3K
  • Mexico, Sweden - 1K each
  • Germany - 800
  • Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand - 600 each
  • UK, Italy, Austria - 500 each

I want to reserve the right to run ads for products that are reasonably well designed and functional at this point (and also are relevant to the rough target demographic described below). Please excuse me a bit of judgementalism here - for lack of a better word!

PS. I have not tried running house ads before. I'm a newbie at Admob, so if something does not work as planned, please don't get angry :)
