💡 I blew up my lead conversion rate by using this simple "design pattern"

I consider it 'blowing up' because it went from almost 0 leads in 72 hours to around 5 leads in 12 hours after I made a simple change. With same traffic. :)

A week ago I added an email-wall on my CoPatterns website. 😃 I was excited.

But life had other plans. And lead conversions dropped to zero! 😤

Previously, the library was open to all before. Still I got a better email signups.

It made sense to atleast ask for an email in return of 300+ hours worth of work in creating the library.

I got only one email signup in 72 hours after adding the email-wall!! 😕 Lower than before!

But then, I realized something. I had given no taste to the visitor of what the library was like. And what to expect if they sign up.

I turned it around with a very simple trick. 😉

I recorded a quick demo video of the Airtable library that you see on this landing page here , and showed it upfront.

AND BOOM!!! In the next 12 hours, I got 5 email signups. Same traffic. Much higher conversion than the previous version with open library. With same traffic flow.

This is an example of a "design pattern" I call 'Product In Action'.

If you haven't done this yet, try it. Show your product while it is in use and how it works. I can guarantee your conversions will increase.

But, this does not work in every context.

I am writing about this pattern in the next couple of hours with more real life examples, explaining when it works, why it works and how to use it.

PS : My latest project is about discovering "hidden design patterns" used by smart marketers in ads and landing pages. And also trying to understand how it affects human perception. I am obsessed with Behavioral Science and spend most of my time learning and applying it for my projects.

Yes, I can confirm it works. I've been using this myself - a screenshot of the app in action, while asking for email.

Wow! That's interesting. Can you please share the link? I would love to see.

https://cinematicstudio.app - download the app, install it, and it will be the first thing you see :D

This looks really cool, I signed up for your newsletter. I think you could expand on this with consulting/website reviews and recommendations. You could also bolt onto that some case studies possibly with metrics showing a before and after of a webpage and the resulting impact on conversions or CTAs. I have seen this kind of information before but it's one thing to see it and get it and it's another thing to implement it. Step by step instruction etc. is where it seems to never go.

That's exactly what I am working on next. Examples and case studies help a lot in applying these tactics more effectively.

How did you record the product in use ? Which software did you use ?

Hey Sachin, I used Open Broadcast Studio (OBS). Then edited it on https://recast.studio

Try to go further and embed a sample of your database (5-10%) so visitors can actually read some of the content.

I do this at getscrapbook.com and have been getting great feedback about it ;)
