Hi Indie Hackers,
I'm building Hermes Agent for Android.
The idea started from a simple problem:
Hermes Agent is a powerful AI agent, but running it on Android usually requires Termux, Linux environment setup, Python dependencies, and command-line knowledge.
That works great for developers, but many Android users just want to install an app and start using an AI agent.
So I built a native Android version:
GitHub:
https://github.com/goldenduo/hermes-agent-for-android
What it provides:
- Native Android experience
- No manual Termux setup
- Integrated runtime environment
- Mobile-friendly UI
The interesting challenge was not only making Hermes run, but adapting an agent designed for desktop/server environments to mobile constraints.
Things I'm still improving:
- Better battery management
- Background execution
- Mobile UX
- More Android integrations
I'd love feedback from other builders:
1. Would you use an AI agent running directly on your phone?
2. What tasks would you automate with a mobile agent?
Thanks!
The strongest part is removing the Termux/Linux setup barrier. The interesting question is whether mobile constraints still allow Hermes to deliver enough of the original agent's value to make the native experience compelling.
