I built 2 video courses in 6 months. AMA

The first one took me 3 months. The second one took 2 weeks.

Here are my top 6 tips on building a video course ⬇️

  1. Imagine yourself giving a 60 min presentation to a live audience over Zoom. Film that as the course.

This will keep your course short, and gets you thinking about your intended audience more.

  1. Don’t waste time with research. I wasted a month A/B testing headlines and surveying for interest. I regretted it.

The only real validation you can get is from launching to paying customers. Just start making slides and film quickly.

  1. Follow my schedule to launch your course in 2 weeks:

Course Description = 1 day
Slides = 5 days
Filming = 4 days
Editing = 2 days
Transcription = 1 day
Final Touches = 1 day

Total = 14 days

  1. Use my course creation tech stack:

Microphone: Shure SM7B
Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Activator: Cloudlifter CL-1

Webcam: Logitech Brio
Slides: Google Slides
Video Recording: OBS
Video Editing: iMovie
File compression: Handbrake

  1. Film small 1 to 5 minute clips at a time and stitch them together. Don't do long takes, because if you mess up you may need to redo the whole thing.

  2. And lastly, before you hit "Start Recording" always remind yourself of two things:

➡️ Look into the camera while speaking
➡️ Smile :)
