Hey IH! I'm Ali, a solo developer from Lahore, Pakistan. I just launched ToolSparkr — a free collection of 35+ browser-based developer tools.
What I built:
- JSON Formatter & Validator
- Password Generator (up to 128 chars)
- URL Encoder/Decoder
- Base64 Encoder/Decoder
- QR Code Generator & Reader
- UUID v4 Generator
- DNS Lookup, WHOIS Lookup, IP Lookup
- Hash Generators (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, bcrypt)
- CSS/HTML/JS Minifiers
- Color Converter, Slug Generator, and more
The numbers so far:
- 35+ working tools, all free
- 22 SEO-optimized blog posts
- 30 programmatic SEO pages
- Google PageSpeed: 100/100 on mobile AND desktop
- Total budget: $0 (DigitalOcean free credits from GitHub Student Pack)
Tech stack: PHP 8, MySQL, Apache, Cloudflare CDN, Let's Encrypt SSL
The biggest lesson I learned:
Content is the real growth engine, not the tools themselves. Blog posts targeting "what is Base64 encoding" or "SHA-256 vs MD5" rank way faster than tool pages competing against giants like FreeFormatter or CodeBeautify. I think of ToolSparkr as a developer education site that happens to have great tools.
What's next:
- Writing 2-3 blog posts per week
- Targeting Google AdSense approval by month 3-4
- Building a social media automation bot to drive traffic
I'd love your feedback on the site: https://toolsparkr.com
What tools would you add? What would you improve? Honest feedback welcome!
