I built a $30 tool that tells small businesses if AI can find them. Here's what I learned.

Most small business owners I talk to have spent years working on their Google presence. Clean website, Google Business Profile, maybe some reviews. They feel good about their visibility.

Then I started asking them a different question: what happens when someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity to recommend a plumber, a salon, or a dentist in their area?

Blank stares. Nobody had thought about it.

I spent nearly 20 years in marketing agency client services. I watched businesses pour money into visibility strategies year after year. When AI search started changing how people find local businesses I realized almost nobody was helping small business owners understand what it meant for them.

So I built AIMention. You put in your website URL, pay $30 one time, and get a plain English score across six AI visibility dimensions plus a prioritized action checklist and 60 day roadmap. No subscription. No agency. Just a clear picture of where you stand and what to do next.

Worth mentioning: this is the first product I have ever built and I have little to no coding background. The whole thing runs on Cloudflare Pages and was built using AI coding tools. If I can build it anyone can.

Launched April 2. Still early but learning a lot about what small business owners actually need when it comes to AI search.

Happy to answer questions about the build, the positioning, or what we've seen so far from running businesses through the tool.

Traditional SEO focus has left a massive blind spot for local businesses because being on the first page of Google doesn't guarantee you'll be the one an LLM actually recommends. Most owners don't realize that AI models prioritize structured data and brand citations differently than a standard search crawler does. Since you're targeting small businesses with a one-time report, are you finding that they are more concerned with their "authority score" or are they specifically asking for help with how to get their business mentioned in the actual chat responses?
