I built a boilerplate to help indie hackers get their SaaS started easier and faster

Hey everyone,

I would like to share and get some feedback on my current side project I am building, to help indie hackers like you building a SaaS.

It is a boilerplate that is build on Next.js and Supabase and it comes with some of the most common functionalities many of us waste their time on building:

  • Authentication
  • Internationalization
  • Mail templates
  • A blog
  • Subscription (coming soon)
  • A landing page template
  • Dark mode
  • Responsive components
  • Serverless architecture

Check out the demo, if you like: https://demo.supastarter.dev

You can learn more about it at https://supastarter.dev and I would love to hear your feedback! Does it solve (some of) the problems you have as an indie hacker? What are you missing or what could I do better ?

Looking forward to your answers and have a great day!

Hey , Great boilerplate. May i know , what did you design your landing page in ? I love the design btw :)

      Hello Shriniket27,

The whole boilerplate is based on ChakraUI. I choose this library because it gives you ready-to-use accessible components, with the ability to customize them in every detail. Similar to Tailwind CSS, but with more functionality. It makes building your app so much faster and easier.

If I can answer you any other question, let me know! 😊

Hey man, I am a marketer who has a web app idea which involves using Facebook Graph API...I am a complete noob in coding and honestly not understanding the concept of Boilerplate
Can you or anyone just make me understand so that I can take a decision?
PS - I am new to this entire segment (SAAS Building/Entrepreneurship)

Hey Vinaykumar, thank you for your comment! I will try to explain it as simple as possible:

When building a SaaS you are facing a lot of common challenges while building. Typical things are implementing authentication, internationalization and finding the right tools that fit your stack. This costs a lot of time and especially as an indiehacker you want to get your product to your customers as fast as possible. The idea of a boilerplate is to give you the basis for your application ready to use so you don’t have to do all the research, read the tutorials and waste time implementing things that are not really specific to YOUR SaaS.

Using supastarter or any other boilerplate will give you a great starting point and you can get a product to the customers within a few days instead of months.

Hope this gives you a better understanding of how supastarter can help you 😊

If you have any questions about the stack or the philosophy behind it, contact me on Twitter or via email at [email protected].

Looking forward to hear from you!

    Marketing feedback

Your header 'Everything you need to bootstrap your SaaS' doesn't say anything about boilerplate.

I would check out some of the other boilerplate site headers for ideas.

    https://bullettrain.co/

    https://usegravity.app/

    https://volca.io/

    https://adonispace.dev/

    https://nextlessjs.com/

    https://shipsaas.com/

Thank you joshdance! Really appreciate that you took the time to list some examples! I will definitely check them out and evaluate what would be a better headline for my landing page.

So basically it is about explaining what it is and how you (as a user) can benefit from it, right?

      1. 2

I have something in this space, and made this list: https://saasstarters.com/starters/

        1. 1

Would you list supastarter there too? 🚀

          1. 1

Yes! My bot automatically gets your og:image as the preview image, is this one ok to use? https://supastarter.dev/meta-icon.png

      2. 1

Yeah. All the other boiler plate sites say something like

        "Build a Tech1 & Tech2 app superfast with a SaaS boilerplate/framework"

So yours would be 'Build a Next.js and Supabase app super quick with a SaaS boilerplate'

        Something like that.

      1. 1

Working on something similar. So the great benefit you see here, is that you have the choice what you want to include right? What is most important for you in a boilerplate if I may ask ? 😊

        1. 1

I don't use them. I create my own stuff.

  4. 1

That looks great! A SaaS starter with strong foundations is underrated - it can get you up and running super quickly! I'd also love to add a partner offer for Testkit - you can Twitter if you're interested :)

    1. 1

Will do! Let’s get this rolling!

  5. 1

I would check out competitor such as https://usegravity.app/ and see what they are offering that you aren't

    1. 1

Will do that, thank you amosbastian 😊

    Hello,
My friend and I created a platform where we simplified the process of customer feedback by collecting it in one place.
Feel free to integrate (paste a single line of code) into your website and try to gather feedbacks in that way.

Hey, I will check that out, thank you for the hint 😊
