A while ago I came up with the idea of a micro SaaS to help people who are less tech-savvy with sending job applications. As a result, got started working on Pomodoro CV. Here you will read briefly about my thoughts behind it and what I am planning to do next.
I would very much appreciate your feedback on any part of this post as well as the site itself.
While the tech-savvy folks and the tech enthusiasts are good at using ChatGPT and other recent AI tools, for the others, especially the older generations, it can be rather cumbersome to get a high quality result from AI.
One area where this can very much apply is job seeking. It can be a repetitive and tedious task to write and adjust a CV and Cover Letter for different job openings and make sure to target and highlight the matches between the applicant's profile and the job requirements.
Therefore, an AI-based tool that solves this problem can become quite handy.
While there are other online CV builders on the market, they have two main drawbacks, in my opinion, from the customer experience point of view:
The usually ask for a relatively high monthly subscription fee, which can be unaffordable esp. for an unemployed person
The usually "lock the user in", as in, the moment you stop the subscription, you no longer can edit your CV
These are the problems I try to solve with this new micro SaaS:
I charge a very humble price (currently $1.89) for a CV, a Cover Letter, and a set of suggested interview questions.
The provide users with documents in Word format, which they can edit and reuse at any time.
I decided to opt for a simple, pay-per-service pricing model, simply because I want to make sure this micro SaaS will be sustainable and that I can continue to afford the running costs.
I see this rather as a classic print shop or laundry shop pricing model: you charge a reasonable fee for the service, which includes the costs of providing the service as well as a small profit margin.
I am yet to see how the market will find and react to this pricing model in this niche.
At the moment, I am focused on trying to reach out better to my target group and test the idea more extensively. I am currently running Meta and Google ads and I am observing the results to look for potential adjustments.

This is such a thoughtful concept! Pomodoro CV sounds perfect for simplifying the job application process for those who aren't as tech-savvy. Great work!
How do you reach out to users in this demographic?
I quite like the idea and how the product functions, but I'm not sure about the target audiences (older generation). You should really look into the target audience and see if they really need this kind of service. Also, there are other similar services to you which can be used easily for all generations and I think that competing with them might be really hard. Still, good luck!
