Hey everyone, I just shipped DevCheck (devcheck.dev) which is a tool to paste your package.json and get a visual report of which dependencies are outdated, how severe the updates are, and where to find migration docs.
The idea came from my own frustration. Every time I start a new project or revisit an old one, I run npm outdated, get a wall of text, then spend 20 minutes opening GitHub release pages one by one trying to figure out what actually changed. I just wanted something where I paste my package.json and immediately see what needs attention.
What it does:
Paste your package.json, get an instant health report
Every package color-coded by severity (patch/minor/major)
Links to changelogs, releases, and migration guides
Copy ready-made update commands
Individual pages for every npm package with health scores and version history
The SEO angle is the interesting part for this community. Every npm package gets its own page (like /package/next or /package/react) targeting search queries like "is next.js outdated" or "react latest version." There are millions of these queries and nobody is really serving them well. Monetizing with ads since dev traffic has high CPMs.
Built with Next.js, Tailwind, TypeScript. All data comes from the npm registry API so no database, no auth, near-zero maintenance. The whole thing is basically a stateless utility that auto-updates itself through ISR.
I'm a solo dev, no marketing budget. The plan is to let SEO compound over time and see where it goes.
Would love any feedback on the tool or the strategy. What am I missing?
