I use ChatGPT and Claude every day. They’re great at answers. They’re worse at finishing the actual work sitting on my desktop.
I’d get a plan in one tab… then spend another 20 minutes copy-pasting into Excel, Finder, the browser, and whatever legacy app still owns the process. The AI stopped at “here’s what you should do.” I still had to do it.
So I built Lapu AI: a desktop agent for Mac and Windows that runs on your machine and operates real apps and files — with permission prompts before anything sensitive.
**What it does**
- Takes a plain-language task and executes multi-step work locally
- Works across files, desktop apps, browser, and common office workflows
- Asks before risky actions
- Free to start (no credit card)
**What it’s not**
Not another chat window. Not a hosted automation sandbox. It’s meant for the messy work that already lives on your computer.
**Early stage**
We’re live at https://lapu.ai with a free plan. Looking for feedback from people who already use AI tools but still finish jobs by hand.
If you’ve hit the same “AI plans / I execute” gap, I’d love to hear how you’re solving it — and what you’d want a desktop agent to handle first.
One thing I found interesting is that you're treating "execution" as the product, not the conversation.
A lot of AI products stop at reducing the thinking required. The remaining friction is that users still have to translate that thinking into actions across different tools. That's a different boundary to optimize for, and it's where the experience either feels complete or unfinished.
