I built a free AI job fit analyzer — here's what I learned

Hey IH! I'm building HuntWise AI — a free tool that matches your resume against any job posting and shows your fit score, skills gaps, and ATS compatibility.

  • Stack: Next.js, OpenAI, Firestore, Stripe + Razorpay

  • Revenue: $0 — just launched Feb 2026, freemium model ($8/mo pro)

  • Users: 17 signups, still early and focused on getting the product right

The idea came from my own frustration applying to jobs blindly without knowing if I was even qualified.

Try it free (no signup): https://www.huntwiseai.com/try-job-fit

Would love feedback from the community!

Hey TheIncarnation, Saw you're working on HuntWise AI, especially the AI job fit analyzer that matches resumes against job postings, shows fit scores, skills gaps, and ATS compatibility. Quick question: How did you validate that users would pay for this feature? I’m exploring a video validation method and don’t want to build in a bubble. Not selling anything—still in the early stage. I’d love to chat with someone hands-on like you for 10 minutes and exchange validation ideas. Would you be open to it? JoneXu

This is super relevant, I’ve seen so many founders and job-seekers struggle with guessing their fit for opportunities. Love that you’re making ATS + skills alignment transparent.

Curious, have you noticed any patterns yet in where people overestimate vs underestimate their fit? That insight alone could be huge for both candidates and hiring teams.

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?

The job application "black hole" is real — sending resumes into the void and hearing nothing back is demoralizing.

Giving people a "reality check" before they apply is valuable. But I'm curious about the flip side: are you seeing cases where people are *more* qualified than they think? The "imposter syndrome" crowd who skip jobs they could actually get?

That might be your real value prop — not just saving time on bad fits, but surfacing "reach" opportunities people wouldn't have considered. "You're 70% match for this Senior role — here's what you're missing" feels more empowering than just filtering.

Also: any plans for the "so what now?" part? If there's a skills gap, does HuntWise suggest specific next steps (courses, projects) to close it?

Congrats on the launch! 🚀 HuntWise AI sounds like a lifesaver—the "black hole" of job applications is a pain point everyone feels.

cool build. are people trusting the fit score more or the skills gap section so far?

also are users running multiple job links per session yet or mostly one and done?
