I've been building CookingCalcs (cookingcalcs.com) — a collection of free cooking calculators for home cooks. Unit conversion, recipe scaling, meat temperatures, meal cost. No sign-up, no ads yet, just tools.
Why I built it
Every time I searched for something like "cups to grams flour" or "how long to cook chicken breast at 400F," I'd land on a page that made me scroll through 800 words before getting the answer. I wanted one place where you type the question and get the answer immediately.
What's live
9 tools: cups to grams, oven temp converter, tablespoon to teaspoon, weight converter, recipe multiplier, cooking time calculator, meat temperature guide, meal cost calculator, cost per serving
17 blog posts covering the most common cooking measurement and temperature questions
No framework — pure HTML/CSS/JS on GitHub Pages
Week one numbers
60 users, mostly direct traffic
16 impressions on Google Search Console, average position 54
7 pages indexed so far
Early days, but the site is getting crawled and the right keywords are starting to show up.
What's next
Adding 3 blog posts and 1 tool every week. Target is AdSense approval once the content base is solid enough.
Happy to hear any feedback on the tools or content strategy.
