I built a free image hosting platform in PHP

Hey everyone! I just launched IMGBS (https://imgbs.com) — a free image hosting platform I built entirely from scratch using PHP and MySQL on shared hosting.

No Laravel, no React, no AWS — just raw PHP on a $10/month GreenGeeks plan.

What it does:

• Drag and drop up to 200 images at once

• Supports JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP

• No account required to upload

• Clean URLs like imgbs.com/i/2863/turbo-snail

• 6 switchable themes (dark, light, cyberpunk, terminal, sunset, arctic)

• Albums, favorites, following, comments

• Embed codes for forums and websites

• Full ShareX/API support

• Built a Windows desktop screenshot tool with GIF recording that uploads directly to the site

Some numbers:

• 3,000+ images hosted

• Launched March 19, 2026

• Single developer, built over a few weeks

• Running on shared hosting with no issues
