I built a free job search tracker that turns your search into analytics - just shipped v1.1

I've been building Seisin, a free Windows desktop app for keeping an entire job search in one place: applications, interviews, offers, resumes, contacts, notes.

I started it because I was tired of juggling spreadsheets, tabs, and my inbox every time I was job hunting. It was easy to lose track of what I'd applied to, when to follow up, or which offer actually paid better once you accounted for relocation and bonuses.

Most trackers stop at storing information. I wanted something that also showed the patterns behind a search, response rate by source, response time, weekly activity, where the pipeline was actually stalling, so I built that in from the start.

Launched v1.0 about a month ago to basically just my own network. This week I shipped v1.1 with a resume builder (five templates, import/export as PDF or Word, an offline check for what's missing), a big interview suite revamp (question bank, STAR answer builder, prep checklists), offer comparison that separates what you were actually offered from what a posting advertised, and a calendar that pulls in every interview and deadline automatically from your applications, interviews, and offers.

Everything's stored locally in SQLite, no accounts, no sign-in. It's completely free, no catch, though I'll probably add an optional paid tier eventually that adds depth to existing features rather than gating anything off.

Distribution so far has basically been zero, this is one of my first real attempts at getting it in front of people who aren't already in my network. Would genuinely love feedback, especially from anyone who's been through a long job search and can tell me what's missing.

You've already gone pretty deep on the product side for v1.1, so I'm curious whether the bigger challenge now is actually figuring out who the product is most valuable to, rather than what else it needs. Has anything from the first month pointed to a particular type of job seeker using it more heavily?

Good question, and honestly I don't have a real answer yet, sample's too small to see a pattern. But it's something I've been thinking about ahead of building a paid tier: my guess is the split isn't really by role or industry, it's between people who want the analytics to actually change how they search versus people who just want everything organized in one place and don't care how deep the insights go. If that holds up, "who it's most valuable to" might matter less than which of those two things someone actually came for.

That’s a useful distinction, especially with a paid tier coming into the picture. The difference between organizing and actually changing behavior seems worth watching closely. What’s the best email to reach you at?

Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.

Congrats on the launch! The product looks really interesting. What has been the biggest challenge so far — getting the first users or getting people to actually come back and use it?

Thanks! Honestly still on the 'getting first users' part, only really started distributing this week so I don't have much of a read on retention yet. Interested to see how that goes once people actually start using it for a few weeks.
