I built a local-first Mac app because I’m tired of every workflow becoming SaaS

I recently launched TimeBill, a native Mac app for freelancers to track billable hours, organize client work, export timesheets, and create invoices.

The idea came from a simple frustration: not every business workflow needs to become another cloud dashboard.

Invoices, client names, hourly rates, project notes, and timesheets can reveal a lot about how someone works and earns money. For many solo freelancers, I think a focused local app is enough, and in some cases the better choice.

TimeBill is built around that idea. No account, no cloud dependency, no bloated project management system. Just a private, practical billing workflow that runs on your Mac.

I know local-first software comes with tradeoffs. There is no automatic web access, no team collaboration, and users have to care more about backups. But for sensitive freelance work, I still believe there is room for serious desktop software that respects the user’s device as the primary workspace.
