I built a map-based social app for your neighborhood β€” solo, with AI. Would love feedback

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

I'm a solo founder, and I've been building MapNews β€” a map-based social app for

your neighborhood.

Instead of a follow feed, you open a map and see what neighbors are posting

right around you: local news, spots, events, and everyday street photos

("Today's Neighborhood"). The bet: if enough people drop one photo of their

block, over time it becomes a living, photographic history of a place.

I built the whole thing solo (with AI as my pair programmer) β€” maps/PostGIS,

editor, ranking, moderation, 11-language i18n with auto-translation, GDPR/PIPA

compliance with one-tap data export. It's live, and I'm launching on Product

Hunt on July 13.

The hard part now is distribution: it's hyperlocal, so density in one

neighborhood matters more than total signups.

How would you approach getting the first 100 active users in a single

neighborhood for something location-based? Would genuinely love your take πŸ™

It seems like it will be a great channel for communicating with neighbors and introducing where I live.
