I built a minimalist planner to fight my ADHD and decision paralysis

Hi Indie Hackers! 👋

I’m the solo founder behind 3ThingsPal.

For years, I struggled with "productivity shame." I used complex project management tools and endless to-do lists, but instead of making me productive, they just made me anxious. As someone navigating ADHD, looking at a list of 20 tasks usually meant I’d freeze up and do none of them.

I realized I needed constraints, not more features.

So, I built 3ThingsPal. It’s a simple iOS app that forces you to focus on just 3 key tasks a day.

The core philosophy:

  • Less is more: If you limit your scope, you actually get more done.

  • Privacy first: No accounts, no cloud tracking. Your data stays on your device.

  • Native experience: I put a lot of effort into the Widgets and Live Activities to make it feel at home on iOS.

I’d love to get some feedback from this community on the UI and the onboarding flow.

This is brilliant! 🙌 A minimalist planner can be a game-changer for ADHD and decision paralysis, helping simplify choices and boost focus. Love the practical, thoughtful approach! 📝✨

      Thanks so much! 🙌
I really appreciate you saying that. The whole idea came from my own struggle with decision paralysis, so it means a lot to hear it resonates with others.

If you end up trying it, I’d love to hear any thoughts on what feels good (or confusing) in the flow. Still iterating every day. 😊

“This is brilliant! Minimalist planners can really help reduce overwhelm and improve focus, especially for ADHD and decision paralysis. I love how simplifying choices makes daily planning more manageable. Excited to see how this tool helps others stay organized and productive without feeling overloaded by options.”

Thank you so much for the kind words! 🙌
That’s exactly what I hoped to solve — removing the overwhelm so planning feels doable again.
If you give it a try, I’d love to hear how it works for you and where it can be improved. Really appreciate the encouragement! 🙏✨

Really thoughtful approach. Reducing the scope to three tasks is a smart constraint, especially for ADHD. The privacy-first angle and clean iOS execution make this stand out. Nice work.

Thanks a lot for this — really appreciate it!
The “three tasks only” constraint was something I needed for myself, so it’s great to hear it makes sense to others too.

And thank you for noticing the privacy-first part and the iOS details — those took a lot of care.
If you have any thoughts on the flow or what could be smoother, I’d love to hear them! 🙌

I know that productivity shame all too well! Having ADHD can be great in so many ways, but man, can it be difficult to avoid that feeling. I've tried paper to-do lists, Notion, Asana, Workflowy, and even building my own to-do app called Nudge to keep me on track when my focus wavers, but none of them worked. I'll check 3thingspal out and see how it goes! 🤞🏻

BTW - your box titles at the bottom of the landing page aren't visible!

I feel you — that cycle is way too familiar. ADHD comes with all these strengths, but the focus swings can really make productivity tools feel heavier than they should be. I’ve also bounced between Notion, paper, Asana, even building my own little prototypes… nothing really stuck long-term either.

That’s what pushed me to try the “3 tasks only” constraint. If you give 3ThingsPal a spin, I’d genuinely love to hear how it compares to Nudge and the other tools you’ve tried. 🤞🏻

And thank you for the heads-up about the box titles on the landing page! I’ll fix that ASAP — really appreciate you catching it 🙌
