I built a multiplayer chess app with AI bosses — looking for early testers ♟️

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

Over the past few months I’ve been building a mobile chess app called RoyalMind Chess, and I’ve just reached a stage where I’d love to get feedback from real players.

The goal was to create a competitive chess experience that still feels fun and progressive, not just a basic board and matchmaking.

Some features in the app:

🌍 Online Multiplayer – play ranked matches with other players
👑 RoyalMind Legends – defeat AI “boss” players and climb leagues
🏆 Tournaments – compete with other players for rewards
🧩 Puzzle Mode – improve tactics with daily challenges
🎯 Missions & progression system

Right now I’m especially looking for feedback on:

• matchmaking experience
• rating system
• game UI / UX
• anything confusing or broken

If you enjoy chess (or just like testing indie apps), I’d really appreciate you trying it and sharing your thoughts.

👉 Test the app here:
Join on the Web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.royalmind.chess
Join on the Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.royalmind.chess

I’m actively improving it, so every piece of feedback helps a lot.

Thanks in advance to anyone who checks it out 🙏
Happy to answer any questions about building multiplayer games too.

For early Android testers, I’d give them one concrete scenario instead of a broad “try the app” ask. I’m seeing that with Kinetic Override too: testers who run one real flow and report the exact moment of confusion are far more useful than silent installs.

"The 'AI Bosses' twist on RoyalMind Chess is a great way to gamify the learning curve, Vignesh. Standard chess apps can feel a bit sterile, so adding a progression system and 'Legends' to defeat gives players a reason to keep coming back beyond just the ELO grind.
I'm particularly interested in how the 'RoyalMind Legends' difficulty scales—building AI that feels like a 'boss' rather than just an engine is a tough balance to strike! This app would actually be a solid entry for the current competition. Entry is $19 and the winner gets a trip to Tokyo.
Prize pool just opened at $0. Your odds are the best right now. Definitely worth a look while you're hunting for those early beta testers!
I'll jump into the Android test link and see how the matchmaking feels."

One thing I'm still figuring out is how to make multiplayer matchmaking feel fast when the user base is small. Curious how other founders solved this problem.
