I Built a Pipeline That Finds Buying Signals and Turns Them Into Outbound Sequences Automatically

Quick context: I'm a solo founder running an AI-native GTM agency. Former founding SDR leader at Apollo.io where we scaled from $800K to $50M ARR.
Three weeks ago I built something that changed how I run outbound for my clients.

It's a pipeline that scans the internet for buying signals (podcast appearances, funding rounds, hiring patterns, competitor complaints), qualifies them against an ICP, enriches the prospects, and pushes everything into Amplemarket's Duo AI. Duo then writes personalized multichannel sequences automatically.

Why this matters if you're a founder doing outbound:

Most of us spend 80% of our outbound time on research. Finding the right people. Figuring out what to say. Writing emails. The actual selling, having conversations, is maybe 20% of the time.

This pipeline flips it. The research, qualification, and first-draft messaging happen without me touching it. I review what the AI generated, make tweaks, and send.

The signal insight that changed everything:

When you reach out to someone from a cold list, reply rates are 1-3%. When you reach out to someone who just talked about your exact problem on a podcast? 8-12%.

The difference isn't your copy. It's the signal.

So I automated signal discovery. An AI agent searches for recent podcast interviews, conference talks, funding announcements, and hiring signals that match my clients' ICP. It qualifies each one, enriches the prospect data, then pushes the full context to Amplemarket Duo via their Custom Signal API.
Duo receives something like: "This person appeared on X podcast and discussed Y challenge. Their company just expanded from 2 to 5 SDRs." And it writes outreach that references all of that.

What I'd tell other solo founders:

You don't need this exact stack. The principle is what matters. Automate the connection between "this person publicly demonstrated pain" and "send them something relevant."

Start manually. Find one podcast where your ICP appeared. Write outreach that references what they said. See the reply rate difference. Then think about how to scale that discovery.

  1. 1

The signal → sequence part is the right problem. Where this usually breaks for us is bad triggers still getting a send. We had to add a hard skip list — if the signal is fuzzy, don't enqueue. Reply rate went up when volume went down.
