I built a Pomodoro app that focuses on environment, not just time

Hey Indie Hackers,

I built Pomoria because ordinary Pomodoro timers always felt too flat to me.

A countdown is useful, but focus is not only about time. For me, it depends a lot on atmosphere: sound, rhythm, small rituals, and the feeling of entering a space where work can actually begin.

Pomoria lets you build your own focus environment in the browser. You can create live Pomodoro routines, mix white/pink/brown noise, rain, and binaural tones, attach notes or media to each step, and keep the timer visible with Picture-in-Picture.

The main idea is: don’t wait for motivation — build the environment where motivation can appear.

I’m launching it as a freemium product, and I’d really love feedback from people who use focus tools, Pomodoro apps, ambient sound apps, or anything similar.

A few things I’m especially curious about:

  1. Does the “focus environment” angle feel clear?

  2. Which feature sounds most useful: custom routines, local sound generation, binaural tones, or PiP?

  3. Would you pay for premium soundscapes / advanced routines, or does this feel like it should stay mostly free?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
