I Built a Privacy Tool With AI — And I’m Not a Developer

I’m not a developer, but I’ve always believed the best way to understand new technology is to experiment with it. So I used AI to build a privacy tool from scratch and learned that building with these tools is equal parts exciting, frustrating, and illuminating.

This is a genuinely interesting build story because the useful part is not just the tool itself, it is the way you used AI to move from curiosity into something functional and public.

Ghist is also a good example of a name doing real positioning work. The ghost/gist connection fits the disposable inbox idea nicely: receive the thing you came for, avoid the long-term inbox pollution, then disappear.

The part I’d probably sharpen next is trust. Disposable email tools live in a slightly suspicious category by default, so the landing page has to make the privacy promise feel obvious before someone even tests it. “No tracking, 24-hour inbox, built to avoid spam and unwanted follow-up” should probably be extremely visible above the fold.

If you ever expand this beyond a small experiment, the biggest risk is not the product idea. It is whether people instantly understand that Ghist is privacy-first rather than sketchy or throwaway. The brand has personality already. Now the trust layer needs to be just as clear.

        Glad it was useful, Alex.

Ghist has a nice name-product fit already. The trust layer is the part worth keeping very visible as you keep testing it.
