I built a private, offline dictation app because I was tired of typing prompts
This is my first post on Indie Hackers.
As a developer working on multiple projects, I was daily typing long prompts into claude code, cursor, and codex . It became tiring and too much time-consuming.
I tried a few voice dictation apps, but I wasn’t comfortable with my recordings and private words being stored in some cloud.
So I built Dictro.
It’s a fast and accurate dictation app that lives on your Mac. Voice processing happens locally, it works offline, and your data never leaves your device.

I’d love to hear your honest feedback ,especially from developers, and corporate guy who dictate their work daily.
The interesting opportunity isn't replacing typing with dictation—it's becoming the default voice interface for people who won't trade privacy for convenience. I'd keep validating whether users switch because Dictro is faster or because local-first processing makes it the only tool they're comfortable using for sensitive work.
