A few months ago I was sitting in a small café near my place.
The owner — let's call her Olena — was hunched over her laptop at the counter between serving customers. I asked what she was doing.
"Reprinting the menu. We changed 4 prices."
She was retyping everything. Into Word. To send to a print shop. For the fourth time this year.
I asked if she'd tried a QR menu. She had. The cheapest option she found was $40/month. For a café with 8 tables. That's a week of groceries.
I went home and started building.
What I built: QR Studio
A digital QR menu for restaurants — free to start, no app for guests, and the part I'm most proud of:
📸 Upload a photo of your paper menu → AI builds the digital menu in 60 seconds.
No manual entry. No developer. No $50/month.
You get:
AI import from photo or PDF (powered by Claude + GPT-4o Vision)
Unique QR code per table — never changes, even when you update the menu
Cart-based ordering → kitchen dashboard
One-tap waiter call → instant Telegram alert
Analytics: scans per table, peak hours, top items
11 languages
Free plan: 1 venue, 5 tables, 30 items — forever.
The honest numbers so far:
I launched quietly. No ProductHunt blitz, no paid ads. Just posted in a few restaurant Facebook groups and told friends.
The thing that surprised me most: the AI import feature has the highest "wow" moment. Owners upload a photo, see their full menu appear in under a minute, and immediately share it with someone. That reaction told me I built the right thing.
Still early. Still learning. But Olena's café is live on it now.
What I'd love feedback on:
Is "free forever" a red flag or a green flag for restaurant owners?
Would you position this as an AI tool first, or a QR menu tool first?
Any restaurateurs here who can poke holes in the product?
Happy to answer anything. 🙏
