What it does: Takes 8 inputs (budget, room size, job, etc.) and generates a complete home office setup — gear list, desk layout, budget split, upgrade path. Free, no signup.
Why I built it: Spent 2 weeks last winter doom-scrolling Wirecutter trying to set up my own home office. Every guide assumed a different budget and use case. Wanted a tool that combined all the constraints.
Stack: Next.js 16 App Router, Vercel, Tailwind v4. Affiliate revenue via Amazon (US tag). ~60 pages of gear guides, setup guides, and comparison pages all SEO-optimized with structured data.
Where I'm at: 1 month live, 4 visitors/day, 0 affiliate clicks yet (still in Google sandbox). Have a 90-day plan to push backlinks first, content second.
What I'd love feedback on:
1. The recap → decode → results flow on /generator — does it feel over-engineered or worth it?
2. Pricing strategy for tools like this — should I add a paid tier (e.g., personalized AI recommendations)?
