I built a SaaS to solve my own problem — just launched, 0 customers, here's the story

Earlier this year I was trying to hire Instagram influencers for one of my businesses. Before paying anyone, I wanted to actually check if their followers were real and if their engagement was worth the money.

I looked around for tools. Everything decent was either $200+/month or built for enterprise marketing teams — way overkill for what I needed.

So I spent a few weeks building my own solution. Then thought: if I needed this, other small business owners probably do too.

That became InfluTap — Instagram influencer analytics that lets you check real engagement, detect fake followers, and get an ROI forecast before you commit budget.

What it does:

  • Scores any Instagram profile 0–97 based on real engagement, consistency, and audience quality

  • Detects fake/bought followers with an Audience Quality score

  • Compares up to 5 influencers side by side

  • Generates PDF reports

Where I'm at:

  • Launched 2 weeks ago

  • 0 paying customers (being honest)

  • Free plan with 5 searches, paid plans from $20/month

  • Goal: $5K MRR

I have no marketing background. I'm an entrepreneur who builds and runs businesses, not a growth hacker. So I'm figuring out distribution as I go.

If you've launched something similar or gone through early customer acquisition for a B2B tool — I'd love to hear what actually worked for you.

And if influencer vetting is something you deal with, I'd genuinely appreciate you trying it: influtap.app

Small business owners hiring influencers hang out in Facebook groups and Discord servers for ecommerce/DTC sellers, not IH or Twitter. That's probably a faster first 10 than general posting. Also worth trying: post a free "audit" of a few known influencers publicly, showing the fake follower score. Proof beats pitching here since your whole value prop is trust in the numbers. (Building a sales tool for early SaaS founders myself, gnxsales.com if useful to compare notes.)
