I built a searchable version of the OC Affordable Housing List after struggling to find housing myself
A few day ago I posted on Reddit as a single father with two kids looking for housing in Orange County. Since then I've been calling every local organization and shelter I could find.
Almost all of them sent me the same giant, messy PDF. It's technically useful, but honestly terrible to use when you're stressed, tired, and trying to make calls from your phone.
I got tired of struggling with it, so I built CalHomeAid — a clean, searchable, filterable version of that exact list:
It has:
Real-time search by name, address, or notes
Filters by city, housing type, number of bedrooms, and status
Mobile-friendly cards with phone numbers right there
Regular updates from the official source
No sign-up. No ads. Completely free.
I'm still looking for housing myself, but I wanted to make the process a little less painful for anyone going through the same thing.
