It's such a productivity boon to have a separate work space that is just for work.
Great job on the Shedquarters and a great idea.
Having Your Own Space definitely makes a difference. Also, a connection to the outside world for pondering time (windows, basically) really does help, you should look away, or walk away, from the screen(s) when you're thinking about things.
You don't have to go nuts on construction if you can't manage it, my space is a 3m x 1.6m (10ft x 5 ft) corner room in my house with a city-scape view, it was a laundry until I moved that downstairs and refitted the room. Now it's My Space

cabana (cabin, shed)Cool build! I wanted windows along the top of the wall like that when I built mine, but couldn't source any. Sure you'll enjoy the shedquarters, and the ability to close the door and step away from your work.
I did a write-up too [0] and have found in the 5 months I've been working in it that my working experience is much improved over a) working in a rented office space (with commute) and b) working in the house. And it cost £3k for a 4x6m, insulated, weatherproofed (for UK) space. 10/10 would do again.
Downsides, to be fully open: it was a learning curve, required vast amounts of will-power and energy and I sacrificed 3 months of weekend day-times with family to get it done. One-off cost though. That's how we saw it.

Nice, good job, it looks beautiful. I've also always found having a place to go to do work separate from my normal day to day living is essential. I had a dedicated office room when I owned a house. Now that I travel full time it's a bit difficult but I usually setup a screen house tent and work outside, so my view is pretty much always changing :)
Love it. I've been thinking about doing the same thing in the backyard of my house outside Washington, DC. I really want more windows though because my ideal work environment has a view of something - at least the trees in my backyard. The only problem I ran into when I was looking into it was the need to have a separate electricity meter built in because it's a good 30' from the house. That can run up the cost a bit.
Totally. I had very specific space constraints — existing concrete pad that formally held a hot tub, with grape vines on one side and the house wall opposite. Because the grape vines are a bit of a mess close-up, I opted for transom windows instead of full.
If I had a view though, I would've definitely added large windows (with shades to control glare).
