The Shopify App Store has two kinds of conversion apps.
The $5/month ones that do one thing and stop working the moment you need anything else.
And the $50–100/month platforms built for enterprise brands with dev teams and marketing budgets.
A solo merchant running a 500-SKU store doesn't need a platform. They need a popup when someone's about to leave, a timer when a sale ends, and a "3 people bought this today" notification that actually builds trust.
So I built PopBoost.
Why it exists
Every Shopify store owner knows they need social proof and urgency. The problem isn't awareness — it's that every good tool charges like you're running a DTC brand doing $5M/year.
The gap between "toy app" and "enterprise suite" is where PopBoost lives.
What it does
7 conversion widgets, one app, one price:
Announcement bar — sticky promotions at the top of every page
Free shipping bar — progress bar toward the threshold
Product badges — SALE / NEW / LOW STOCK overlays on product images
Countdown timer — sale end timer in flip or bar style
Stock countdown — "Only 4 left!" shown on product pages
Social proof popup — recent purchase toasts pulled from real order data
Exit intent popup — discount modal triggered when the cursor leaves the page
Every widget matches the store's theme automatically. No CSS knowledge required.
The stack

What I got wrong
The app description led with widget names instead of outcomes. "Countdown timer" means nothing to a merchant who just wants to stop losing customers at checkout. Should have led with the conversion problem, not the feature list.
How I'm breaking through
Product Hunt launched June 2. External traffic and a DA90 backlink independent of App Store ranking.
Shopify App Store ads targeting "social proof app", "FOMO shopify", "countdown timer shopify" on Broad match.
Content targeting every "increase shopify conversions" and "shopify social proof" search query — 8 articles live already.
What's next
First 5 reviews. That's the only milestone that matters right now — it's where the App Store algorithm starts showing the app organically.
Then direct outreach to every install to understand which widget they actually used first and why.
If you're running a Shopify store — what's stopped you from adding social proof or urgency widgets? Price, complexity, or something else?
