Hey IH 👋
Just launched InternationalCall, a pay-as-you-go service for calling landlines and mobiles in 70+ countries.
The problem I kept running into:
- Carrier roaming rates are insane ($2-5/min)
- Apps like Skype/WhatsApp require BOTH people to have the app
- Calling cards have hidden fees and terrible UX
- Most VoIP apps are bloated with features I don't need
What I built:
A simple web app where you add credits, dial a number, and call. That's it. The person you're calling just picks up their regular phone, no app needed on their end.
- Rates from $0.02/min
- No subscriptions or monthly fees
- Credits never expire
- Works from any browser
Tech stack:
Django, Twilio, Stripe, WebRTC
Where I'm at:
Just launched, getting my first users. SEO is slow (expired domain, Google is taking its time), so grinding on distribution now.
What's next:
- Mobile apps
- More countries
- Maybe a referral program
Would love feedback from anyone who makes international calls regularly. What's broken about the current options you use?
