I built a site to meet people near you and make friends
TL;dr: Reddit, but video based & only with people near you or say a meetup.com that runs 24x7 online.
Making new friends as an adult is hard. So, I built neartribe to help people find & connect with others online that live near them. The idea is to foster conversations online with people near them which can then hopefully lead to offline, real world friendships.
This is a chill video chat site with no agenda. Unlike other social medias there is no pressure to get followers, likes or view counts. Dial in whenever you have some time and talk to people near you about your hobbies.
How it works
As a user, you join a room where you will be connected with at most 9 people who live within xx miles of you.
Coming soon
- Ability to create topics to streamline conversations (similar to subreddits)
- Reduce distance threshold to connect you to only people within 10 miles of you.

Congrats on the launch! I checked out your site and noticed a typo in "We will connect you with upto 9...". I believe there should be a space between up and to. What prevented me from signing up was due to me not knowing if there are people actually using the site and or online. I'm also skeptical of sites that use video based connections because what if a random creeper pops up? Can I immediately jump to someone else like on Chatroulette? Or what if I don't want to start the conversation but perhaps want the other person(s) to. Those are usually the things I think about when it comes to video based sites. - Gina

You are right. There aren't a lot of people using the site right now which is why I don't want to display - xx people online right now since xx would be a very small number.
The reason why I added a google login is to prevent creepy people from joining since it links your real identity unlike Omegle or Chatroulette where anyone can join in a video stream.
I plan on adding features where the participants of a group chat can boot a user out based on consensus if somebody starts behaving like a bad actor.
