I built a small AWS EC2 scheduling tool to cut idle costs (one-time purchase, no subscription)

Like a lot of developers running AWS, I was frustrated by leaving EC2 instances running and watching costs pile up. AWS has some options, but I wanted something lightweight and dead simple. So I built EC2 Auto Scheduler for AWS.

What it does:

  • Lets you pick EC2 instances and set a daily start/stop schedule (local + UTC).

  • One schedule per server (keeps it simple and reliable).

  • Uses EventBridge + Lambda behind the scenes.

  • Logs actions locally so you always see what happened.

  • Windows desktop app (MSI installer).

  • No subscriptions — just a one-time purchase.

Why I built it:

I was tired of paying for idle servers, and I couldn’t find an affordable, straightforward desktop tool that just… worked. So I scratched my own itch.

Now I’m curious — would this solve a real pain point for you?

  • If you manage AWS accounts, do you already solve this differently?

  • What’s missing that would make this tool a “must-have” for you?

I’d love feedback from anyone here who’s into AWS/devops, or just opinions on pricing/positioning.
