I started Movidmo because I wanted a genuinely simple way to make video ads and social content without the bloat, subscription traps, or steep learning curve of most editing tools out there. Most novices who try to design their own marketing content run into the same wall — they know roughly what they want to say, but not how to make it look intentional. Spacing, timing, font pairing, layout — all easy to get wrong and hard to self-diagnose. Video templates were my answer to that: professionally designed starting points people can build from instead of staring at a blank canvas.
I've built the whole thing solo over several years — the video and image editors, the template system, the caption/animation engine, and more recently an AI video generator and AI image generator so people can describe what they want in plain language instead of building a session by hand.
Honestly, the biggest challenge hasn't been any of that. It's been visibility. I'm a developer first, not a marketer — I can solve a hard rendering or pipeline problem for hours and enjoy every minute of it, but figuring out how to get in front of the people who'd actually find this useful has been a completely different kind of hard, one I clearly still haven't cracked.
Curious how other solo/small-team founders here have approached that gap, especially if building was always your stronger suit too.
What stood out is that you solved the creation problem but discovered the harder business problem was discovery. I'd keep validating whether customers are buying a simpler editor or confidence they can consistently produce marketing content that looks professional without becoming designers. That's a much stronger promise than "easy video editing."
