I built a system for my relationships because my brain isn’t a database.

As a developer, I’m used to building systems for logic, data, and efficiency. But recently, I realized I didn't have a "system" for the most important thing: the people in my life.

I created Kindheld because I was tired of realizing three months had passed since I last checked in on a close friend or a mentor. I thought building the tool was the hard part. I was wrong.

Getting "eyes" on a relationship tool as a "dev person" is incredibly tough. I can talk about the tech stack all day, but explaining the feeling of being a better friend is a different beast. I've had hundreds of people hit the landing page, but I’m struggling to make the value click instantly.

I’d love some "dev-to-dev" advice:

  • How do you market a tool that is inherently "personal" without sounding like a corporate CRM?

  • For those who have launched on IH before, how did you find your first 50 users who actually care about the mission, not just the features?
