I built a time tracking + invoicing tool for freelancers for my family members

I started building Clockout because a few of my family members freelance, and every time I looked at their setup it felt absurd.

One tool for time tracking. Another for invoices. Another for projects. Then a bunch of manual follow-up just to get paid.

So I built the version I wished they had.

Clockout is basically:

  • time tracking

  • clients / projects / tasks

  • invoices from tracked work

  • estimates

  • recurring invoices

  • payment follow-ups

  • Stripe payments

  • web, desktop, and mobile

The core loop is simple:

track work → review sessions → send invoice → follow up → get paid

It started as a small tool and definitely grew more than I expected, which is why I’m trying to get real feedback now before I keep polishing in a vacuum.

If you freelance, I’d love to know:

  • what’s the most annoying part of your workflow right now?

  • would you want one tool for all of this?

  • or do you prefer separate tools?

Happy to share it with anyone willing to be brutally honest.
