I built a tool that turns any URL into a full Playwright test suite β€” $0 to launch, just went live

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

I just launched AegisRunner and wanted to share the journey.

The problem I kept hitting:
Every project I worked on had the same gap β€” no test coverage. Writing Playwright scripts took forever. Record-and-replay tools broke constantly. And hiring QA wasn't an option as a solo dev.

I kept thinking: why can't a tool just look at my site and figure out what to test?

What I built:
AegisRunner takes a URL, autonomously crawls the entire site (pages, forms, buttons, dynamic states), and uses AI to generate a complete Playwright test suite. On the same crawl, it audits every page for accessibility, SEO, security, and performance.

You get standard .spec.ts files β€” no vendor lock-in, no proprietary format. Download them, drop them in your repo, run in CI.

Business model:

  • Free: 1 project, 10 pages

  • Starter: $29/mo

  • Pro: $79/mo

  • Business: $199/mo

Where I'm at:

  • Just launched on Product Hunt

  • Listed on SaaSHub

  • 3 signups so far (1 organic, rest are test accounts)

  • $0 revenue

  • Solo founder, bootstrapped

What I've learned so far:

  1. Building the product was the easy part. Getting people to try it is hard.

  2. Reddit spam filters are brutal for new accounts posting links.

  3. A free scan on the homepage converts better than any landing page copy.

  4. The "regression testing" positioning confused people β€” "web testing" resonates more.

Would love feedback on the product, the positioning, or the pricing. If you have a site you want tested, the free scan takes about 2 minutes: aegisrunner.com

Happy to answer anything about the tech, the business, or the solo founder grind.

This is a really useful direction. I’ve noticed most solo devs skip tests not because they don’t care, but because writing and maintaining them feels like a separate project.

One suggestion from my experience: show the exact output early β€” like a real generated test file and how it runs in CI. That removes doubt fast and helps people trust it.

Also, the free scan is smart. Tools like this usually grow when developers see their own site tested in seconds.

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?
