I built a tool to give you an instant activity tailored to your mood and time, whenever you feel bored.

Hey everyone,

I'm excited (and a little nervous) to share my very first project with you all. As someone new to the world of coding, my goal was to build small things that are genuinely helpful.

It's a simple tool called Feelbored that gives you an instant, wholesome activity tailored to your mood and time, whenever you feel bored.

The Problem

This project was born from a problem I face all the time: getting so bored that my brain just shuts down.

You have time to do something, but you're so drained you can't even think of what to do. You end up just scrolling endlessly, feeling even worse. And that's really where the idea for this project came from: the need for an effortless way to find something meaningful and wholesome to do in those moments.

The Insight

While working on a solution, I stumbled upon some cool science about why this happens. A bored brain isn't lazy, and boredom is more than just having nothing to do. Think of it as a powerful, productive signal from your brain—it just needs a good starting point.

But why is it so hard to find that start? It's because when we're bored, we lack the energy to think of new activities. We either fall back on default habits, like scrolling our phones, or when we do try to find something new, we're overwhelmed by too much information and get stuck in choice paralysis.

My Solution: Feelbored

So, I built Feelbored to solve exactly that. It works in a few simple ways:

  • It acts as your personal 'boredom buster', giving you an activity either at random or tailored to your mood and available time.

  • It removes the friction of decision-making by providing an immediate, actionable starting point. No more choosing, just doing.

  • It delivers meaningful stimulation, not just distractions, to help you feel psychologically satisfied and genuinely shift your mood.

My Ask to You

Building this has been a fun personal challenge, and it's already helped me immensely. I would absolutely love for you to try it out and give me your honest feedback.

Specifically, I'm curious:

  1. Does the core concept make sense to you?
  2. Does the site feel like it successfully removes the "work" of having to decide?
  3. Do the suggestions based on mood and time feel meaningful and appropriate?

Thanks for checking it out. I hope you find it useful too!
