I built a tool to turn any food picture into studio-quality photo in 20 seconds with AI

Most restaurants don’t struggle to have one great photo. They struggle to do it consistently.

Every time they update a menu or post on social media, they either:

• Pay for an expensive photoshoot

• Struggle to get a decent photo themselves

So we built AI Food Photo, a tool that turns everyday food pictures into professional-quality images in seconds, at a fraction of the cost of traditional photography.

I grew up helping in my grandma’s bakery, and I saw this constantly. The product was great, but every new menu item or promotion turned into the same bottleneck: getting photos that actually looked good.

Professional photography was expensive and hard to do on a regular basis. Doing it ourselves meant dealing with camera set up, buying equipment and subscribing to editing software plus the time to actually do it all, just to get one usable image.

That problem stuck with me.

So with my partner, we built AI Food Photo using Windsurf, combining a simple stack (Stripe, React, Next.js, and Nano banana) to provide high-quality food photography into a fast, affordable, and easy solution for any culinary business.

Food is one of the most visual categories online. People judge it instantly by how it looks and decide whether to order or not. According to Grubhub, photos in menu items can increase sales by up to 30%.

So this isn’t just about aesthetics. It directly impacts revenue.

We kept the product as simple as possible and we already have users in 5 countries across Europe and America.  We’re focused on distribution, reaching restaurant owners through Reddit, Facebook groups, and cold-email. We’re also talking directly to users to improve the product based on their needs.

What started as a frustration in my family’s bakery turned into a simple goal:

Help food businesses present their food better, and increase orders, without adding complexity to their day.
