I built a toy to see what the world has in common

same.imelabs.co.uk

You pop floating bubbles of things you like and it shows you how

many people elsewhere like the same thing. Mainly to show the

world we aren't so different.

Built it after speaking to a friend on the other side of the world

and realising we all like the same things regardless of where

we're from or how we were raised. Kindness, warmth, family, pets,

safety, food and fun.

No account or email needed. Everything you save sits under a

random UUID stored in your browser, and a forget me button wipes

it from the server. Just make a copy of the UUID somewhere safe if

you might clear your browser, otherwise there's no way to find

your data to delete it.

Next.js on Vercel with Supabase. The bubble field is a small

custom sim, bubbles spawn at max size and shrink over time until

they pop away.

It's early and quiet so it gets better the more people pop,

especially from around the world. Localisation was harder than

expected, so it's English only for now and I want to add images to

get past the language barrier.

Appreciate any feedback :)

Really like the idea behind this. It’s interesting how simple things like food, pets, family and fun can connect people from completely different places. The bubble concept is simple but makes the idea quite engaging. Curious to see how the results change as more people from different parts of the world start using it.
