I built a TV show tracker because I was sick of not knowing when stuff was coming back.
Backstory: We kept losing track of shows. Something would go on hiatus for a year and we'd just... forget it existed. Then TV Time (the app most people use for this) announced they're shutting down, and I figured — ok, now's the time to just build the thing myself instead of finding another app to get attached to.
BingeTracker tracks your shows and tells you when something gets renewed, cancelled, or actually gets a return date. Free for up to 5 shows, Premium if you want more + calendar sync + a friends feature. Built a CSV import tool too so people can pull their whole list over from TV Time instead of starting over.
Where I'm at: early. Real users but mostly friends and family right now, $0 revenue. Just put it on Product Hunt and AlternativeTo this week to see what happens.
Genuinely fun moment so far — someone on Product Hunt asked for a "random episode" button for rewatching shows you've already finished, and I had it built and live a few hours later.
Curious what this community thinks — anyone else built something in a "the old thing is dying, let me just build my own" moment? Or if you use a tracker like this, what actually makes you pay for one vs just using the free version forever?
I like that you started from a change in the market rather than simply building another tracker with more features.
I'll be interested to see which reasons users consistently give for upgrading instead of staying on the free plan. Those patterns will probably reveal whether the product is really about remembering shows, staying connected with friends, or making rewatching more enjoyable.
