I'm an independent developer, and I've been working on a project called TV Station.
The idea started with a pretty simple problem: when I take a break from streaming, I don't really like putting up a static BRB screen. I wanted my channel to still feel like a channel even when I wasn't sitting in front of it.
So I started building something that could schedule and play my own video content automatically.
That eventually grew into something much bigger.
TV Station can now connect to Twitch and Kick, allowing viewers to interact with the channel through chat, request content, and trigger events. It can be used alongside OBS to create scheduled programming, run content while you're away, or even operate as a 24/7 broadcast.
The funny thing is that I started this entirely because I wanted it for my own stream. I wasn't initially trying to build a product.
Now it's available on Steam for $4.99, and I'm trying to figure out what it could become beyond the original idea.
I'm particularly interested in hearing from other indie developers and creators:
Have you ever built something to solve your own problem, only to realize that it could be a product for other people too?
And if you were running your own internet TV station, what would you want it to be able to do?
